In a firm move against land grabbing, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has suspended two Mogajis and confiscated their traditional beads.

The chiefs suspended are Mogaji Kamorudeen Kolawole of Kukula family, Oke-Ofa Baba Isale, and Mogaji Samsudeen Bello of Ekerin Ajengbe family, Isale Osi.

The suspension was ordered during the Olubadan Land Matters Committee meeting on Thursday at the Old Olubadan Palace in Ibadan. This directive is effective immediately, as confirmed by the Olubadan’s Chief Press Secretary, Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade.

The Otun Olubadan, Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, conveyed the king’s message, stating, “Your suspension order is indefinite until you retrace your steps and do the needful.” He further admonished the chiefs for actions that damage the Olubadan’s reputation, including land grabbing and oppressing residents.

The suspended chiefs have been barred from presenting themselves as traditional title holders until their cases are resolved. Law enforcement has been tasked with ensuring compliance by arresting any who violate the suspension.

The Olubadan also criticized some traditional rulers for ignoring summons to the committee, warning that such behavior could lead to title forfeiture.

The meeting included other key traditional leaders and advisers, such as Oba Abiodun Kola Daisi and Chief Isiaka Akinpelu.
