BREAKING: Brazil FA Announce Carlo Ancelotti As New Manager
Carlo Ancelotti will step down as Real Madrid coach at the end of the season to take over as head coach of the Brazil national team, the Brazilian Football Confederation announced on Monday.
The 65-year-old Italian will make history as Brazil’s first foreign manager.
“The greatest national team in the history of football will now be led by the most successful coach in the world,” said the CBF in a statement.
“He will lead Brazil until the 2026 World Cup and will coach them in their next two qualifying matches against Ecuador and Paraguay next month.”
Xabi Alonso is expected to replace Ancelotti at Real Madrid after confirming his departure from Bayer Leverkusen.
Brazil parted ways with Dorival Junior following a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in March. They currently sit fourth in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
Ancelotti departs Madrid as one of the club’s most decorated coaches, having secured 15 titles over two stints, including a La Liga and Champions League double last season.
In addition to Real Madrid, Ancelotti has managed top clubs such as Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and AC Milan where he lifted the Champions League trophy in 2003 and 2007.
He holds the record for the most Champions League titles won by a manager, with five victories.
