2025 U-20 AFCON: South Africa Defeats Nigeria, Faces Morocco In Final
Morocco is set to face South Africa in the final of this year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Young Atlas Lions secured their place in the final with a narrow 1-0 victory over Egypt.
The decisive goal came in the 77th minute, when substitute Jones El Abdellaoui calmly finished off a cross from Ismaël Aouad.
South Africa booked their final spot earlier on Thursday with a 1-0 win against Nigeria in the first semi-final.
Tylon Smith’s well-placed header in the 66th minute proved to be the difference in a fiercely contested match.
The defeat dashes the Flying Eaglets’ hopes of clinching a record-extending eighth U-20 AFCON title.
Nigeria will now face the host nation in the third-place playoff for the bronze medal.
