Yahaya Bello Refutes 2027 Presidential Bid Rumors, Endorses Tinubu

Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has publicly denied claims that he plans to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The denial was issued through a statement on Friday by his Media Director, Michael Ohiare, who addressed a misleading video circulating online.
The video, originally from a 2022 rally, was falsely portrayed as recent footage showing Bello’s presidential campaign against Tinubu. Ohiare clarified, “While we state categorically, that our principal, Bello, has no 2027 presidential ambition, we want to also stress his unflinching commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027.”
He praised President Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “The indices cannot lie. The President and his team have done exceedingly well for the country, despite global challenges. On merit, he deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians.”
Ohiare denounced the viral post as a “senseless post by a confused, witless mind” and pointed out that the banners in the video clearly show the year 2022, exposing the fabrication. He accused the creators of the post of being “mischief makers” whose sole aim is to spread falsehoods and mislead Nigerians.
He further stated that this was not the first time detractors have tried to pit Bello against President Tinubu but have failed. “Nigerians should be wary of witless persons who concoct stories without thinking, just to satisfy the interests of their paymasters,” he warned.
The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the false narrative and reaffirmed Bello’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
