2025 Arafah Sermon to Be Broadcast in Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani and 34 Other Languages by Saudi Arabia

In a landmark announcement, Saudi Arabian officials have confirmed that the 2025 Arafah sermon will be translated and broadcast live in 37 languages, including Nigeria’s major languages Hausa, Yoruba, and Fulani. This move is designed to make the sermon accessible to a broader international audience, allowing pilgrims and followers worldwide to engage with the message in their mother tongues.
The Saudi-based news outlet Haramain shared the news on Saturday via X, highlighting the inclusion of Nigerian languages among the extensive list of translations. The official statement read: “The Hajj Khutbah 1446 will be translated into 34 languages on Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446.”
Languages featured in the broadcast will include Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), Hausa, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Filipino (Tagalog), Amharic, Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Fulani (Fula), Somali, Rohingya, and Yoruba.
This initiative aims to strengthen the message of peace and tolerance conveyed by Islam, reaching diverse communities worldwide in their native languages. The announcement coincides with the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon on May 27, marking the start of the holy month.
The Day of Arafat, the climax of the Hajj pilgrimage, will fall on June 5, with Eid-el-Adha festivities following on June 6. Dhul Hijjah is a sacred month dedicated to increased worship and spiritual reflection for Muslims around the globe.
