FRSC Mobilises 36,000 Personnel and Equipment for Eid El-Kabir Special Patrol Nationwide

Ahead of the Eid El-Kabir celebrations on Friday, June 6, 2025, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced a nationwide special patrol operation to ensure road safety and manage traffic flow during the festive period.

The operation, which will run from June 5 to June 11, involves the deployment of over 36,000 personnel, including regular and special marshals, supported by 750 patrol vehicles, 120 ambulances, 25 tow trucks, and more than 200 motorbikes, according to a statement by FRSC spokesman Olusegun Ogungbemide.

The statement highlighted, “Pursuant to the declaration of Friday, 6 June, 2025 as the day of Eid el Kabir in Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Corps has commenced massive Mobilisation of its personnel and operational equipments for the Sallah special patrol aimed at ensuring safer road environment, before, during the festive period and beyond.”

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed explained that the operation is intended to facilitate free vehicular movement, enable prompt rescue operations, and clear road obstructions swiftly.

He emphasized the Corps’ commitment to reducing road traffic crashes through effective patrols and public enlightenment.

Commanding officers have been directed to ensure full coverage of 52 key corridors nationwide, including major highways such as Akwanga-Lafiya-Makurdi, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano, and Sagamu-Mowe-Lagos.

The FRSC has equipped officers with radar guns and breathalysers to monitor speed and deter drunk driving. Emergency response teams, known as Zebras, have been activated to respond quickly to incidents.

The Corps is collaborating with the military, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence, Department of State Services, and ambulance service providers to enhance coordination.

Mobile courts will be operational nationwide to handle traffic violations swiftly. Motorists are urged to obey traffic rules and cooperate with enforcement officers.

Patrols will run in shifts from morning to late evening, with night rescue teams on standby. The public is encouraged to report accidents or traffic congestion via the FRSC’s National Traffic Radio (107.1 FM) and toll-free line 122.

The Corps Marshal appealed to all road users to cooperate with enforcement officers and promote responsible driving during the Eid El-Kabir celebrations.
