One Survives As 241 People Die In India Flight
An Air India flight bound which was carrying 53 British nationals heading to London Gatwick crashed in Ahmedabad just few minutes after take off, Onyxnewsng learnt.
Flight 171 crashed with about 241 people on board it to the ground in the much populated Meghani area of the city, striking a doctors’ hostel, after it departed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
Miraculously, a British father was captured walking away from the crash scene shortly after Indian police said there appeared to be no survivors.
According to the 40 year old survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh to the local media from hospital: ‘Thirty seconds after take-off, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.’
More than 200 people have so far been confirmed dead in the tragic incident, with the death toll expected to rise in the coming hours.
Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi described the tragedy, one of the worst aviation disasters in Indian history.
The flight was due to arrive in London at around 6.25pm.
