Ronaldo’s Trophyless Spell Continues As Al-Nassr Lose Saudi Super Cup To Al Ahli
Cristiano Ronaldo’s wait for a major trophy with Al-Nassr continues, as they fell to Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final on Saturday.
The match ended 2-2 in regulation time and was decided by a penalty shootout.
Ronaldo had given Al-Nassr the lead from the spot — his 100th goal for the club — but Franck Kessié pulled Al-Ahli level before halftime. Marcelo Brozović restored Al-Nassr’s advantage late on, only for Roger Ibañez to equalize once again.
In the shootout, Al-Ahli held their nerve.
Goalkeeper Édouard Mendy made a vital save from Abdullah Al-Khaibari’s attempt, before Wenderson Galeno converted the winning penalty to secure Al-Ahli’s first Super Cup title since 2016.
