Akon’s Wife, Tomeka Thiam, Files For Divorce— See Reasons
Tomeka Thiam, wife of renowned Senegalese-American singer Akon, has filed for divorce just days before their 29th wedding anniversary.
According to court documents filed on Thursday, September 11, 2025, in Fulton County, Georgia, Tomeka is seeking the dissolution of the marriage along with joint legal custody of their child, while granting Akon visitation rights.
She also requested spousal support from the singer but asked the court to deny any similar request from Akon.
Tomeka cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending the marriage.
Recall that she married Akon in September 1996, and the couple share a 17-year-old daughter.
