NPFL Cautions Players And Coaches Against Immorality

In a recently issued memo to all clubs, the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Davidson Owumi, emphasized the importance of promoting professionalism among coaches and players.
The memo specifically addresses the increasing incidents of inappropriate conduct during league matches that have tarnished the reputation of the league.
Owumi expressed his concern over certain behaviors, such as the improper dressing of coaches and the deliberate simulation of injuries by players.
These actions are often employed to disrupt the flow of the game, waste time, and ultimately deprive dedicated fans, who have paid to watch the matches, of a fulfilling experience.
To tackle this issue, Owumi made it clear that the NPFL rules will be rigorously enforced.
It is essential to uphold the integrity of the league and prevent any individual or group from diminishing the positive public perception of the NPFL.
By curbing unprofessional conducts, the NPFL aims to guarantee that the league maintains its high standards of sportsmanship and professionalism.
“Football broadcast requires intentional packaging from arrival of teams to the dressing rooms, to the field, bench and actual play.
“Let us join hands with our Broadcast Partners to make the league attractive to viewers at home and fans in the stadium.
“Appearing for matches in inappropriate apparels that portray the entire league in bad light, Football has been accepted as big business with entertainment value and this frequent disruptions rob the league games of entertainment spectacle.
“It does not encourage fans who have paid money and spent time to watch games,” the Memo reads.
