Tickets For Messi Hon Kong Friendly Sold Out
Tickets for the upcoming friendly match in Hong Kong featuring Lionel Messi and his team, Inter Miami, were sold out within an hour after nearly two million people queued online, as reported by the organizers.
The match is set to take place at the Hong Kong Stadium on February 4 and can accommodate up to 40,000 spectators.
Football enthusiasts in the bustling financial city of Hong Kong, with a population of 7.5 million, encountered a sizable virtual lineup while trying to purchase tickets through the designated app on Friday morning.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the response from the fans,” said Michel Lamuniere, chairman and CEO of Tatler Asia, which is helping to stage the game.
Ticket prices ranged from HK$880 to HK4,880 ($110-$625).
This won’t be Messi’s first appearance in Hong Kong, as he previously played in the city during a friendly game in 2014.
Joining Messi on the Inter Miami team will be other notable players like Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, as confirmed by the organizers.
The opposing team, Hong Kong XI, will consist of players from the top division of Hong Kong’s football league. David
Beckham, co-owner of Miami and a former player who also performed in Hong Kong back in 2003 shortly after joining Real Madrid, expressed the club’s excitement about playing in this “beautiful city with a great sports scene.”
