Kidnapped Lagos PDP Chairman, Aivoji Rescued
Mr. Philip Aivoji, the Lagos State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been released from captivity.
This news was confirmed by Alhaji Hakeem Amode, the party’s spokesman in Lagos State, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.
Aivoji had been held captive for four days before being freed.
The kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of N200 million from his family, but it is unclear whether any payment was made before his release.
The PDP expressed its gratitude to the security agencies and government authorities who played a role in securing Aivoji’s freedom.
“We use this opportunity to appreciate your prayers and to thank you all for your concerns and prayers,” Amode said.
To recall, Aivoji was abducted on Thursday in the Ogere area of Ogun state along the Ibadan-Lagos expressway. He was returning from a PDP South-West zonal meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
