BREAKING: EFCC Operatives Allegedly Invades FUTA Students In Midnight Attack
The hostels of students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, were allegedly invaded by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The reported raid took place at 2:00 am on Wednesday, and several students were arrested.
Some students have shared videos on social media, claiming that the EFCC operatives broke into rooms and detained their fellow students.
These videos also show evidence of broken window frames, suggesting an attempted forced entry.
One social media user named J Brandy wrote, “I thought they said EFCC should not raid at nights again. This hostel (Celebrity Lodge, FUTA ) is right behind mine. When will this endemic? EFCC (officials) moving like thieves at night!”
Notably, one of the videos shows a man wearing an EFCC jacket.
It is important to mention that this incident occurred despite the directive given in November by the Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, to halt sting operations at night.
This decision was made after public outcry followed the arrest of suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by EFCC operatives.
