Plateau State Secures 6,300 Tons of Fertilizer for 2025 Farmers

The Plateau State government has authorized the acquisition of 6,300 tons of various fertilizers to be distributed among its farmers, aiming to bolster food security within the state in anticipation of the 2025 planting season.
Honorable Joyce Ramnap, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, revealed this plan during a radio broadcast on Peace FM 90.5, monitored by our correspondent in Jos.
She explained that the Ministry of Agriculture has implemented a state-wide farmer registration program, creating a comprehensive database. Registered farmers will receive direct support in the form of subsidized farming inputs and fertilizers.
“This initiative is designed to provide Plateau State farmers with direct access to subsidized fertilizers, eliminating the need for intermediaries,” Ramnap stated. “This direct distribution system will combat corruption and prevent the diversion of resources.”
She emphasized that the move is a key component of the state’s economic recovery strategy.
Furthermore, the commissioner highlighted the government’s renewed commitment to completing long-neglected infrastructure projects. “Across all three senatorial zones, work has resumed on previously abandoned projects,” she said.
“For example, a 55.23 km road project is currently underway in Rukuba, Miango, Farin Lamba, Busabuji, and Kent Academy,” Ramnap noted. “Additionally, the Jibam-Dokang-Kasuwan Baap Road project includes the crucial expansion of a single-lane bridge that previously caused significant traffic bottlenecks. The administration is doubling the bridge’s capacity to ensure smooth traffic flow.”
