Father of Three Killed in Eatery Altercation, Customer in Police Custody

A security guard, Ifeanyi Ani, a father of three, was allegedly beaten to death by a customer at an eatery in Rumukrushi, Rivers State, on Thursday evening.
Sources indicate that the incident occurred after Ani asked the customer’s wife to turn off the car’s headlights, which were left on in the parking lot. The customer, upon learning of the interaction, confronted Ani, leading to an altercation. The customer allegedly punched Ani repeatedly, causing him to collapse and die.
Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the customer continuing to assault Ani despite attempts to intervene. The eatery’s management apprehended the customer and handed him over to the Mini-Okoro Police Division.
The Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign, a rights group, stated that Ani’s sister, Chinaza Ani, sought their assistance, but later requested they hold off as the family planned to meet with certain individuals.
Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident and stated that the customer is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
