Lagos Police Command Mobilizes Forces for Easter Security

In preparation for Easter, the Lagos State Police Command has mobilized a comprehensive security operation involving conventional police officers and specialized tactical units.
Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh ordered the deployment of various units including the Rapid Response Squad, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Special Protection Unit, and K9 units to cover all strategic points in Lagos.
The police stated that “all strategic locations across the length and breadth of Lagos State including identified black spots and flash points” are being covered to ensure a crime-free and peaceful Easter. Particular attention is being paid to churches, recreational centers, and public venues expecting large crowds.
Officers are equipped with armored personnel carriers and patrol vehicles to enhance their capacity to respond swiftly to incidents. The operation aims to “nip in the bud any other security breaches” and maintain public order before, during, and after the festivities. Jimoh highlighted collaboration with the military, paramilitary, and traffic authorities.
He urged officers to be “courteous, polite, professional but firm” and called on Lagosians to cooperate with the police. The commissioner also appealed to parents to caution their children and extended Easter greetings, wishing peace, love, and joy to all.
