Governor Makinde’s Administration Supports Oyo Workers with Subsidised Festive Commodities

As the 2025 Ileya (Eid-el-Kabir) celebration approaches, the Oyo State Government has provided festive commodity advances to 2,500 civil and public servants to help ease their festive preparations. The distribution was conducted on Saturday at the Agricultural Credit Corporation’s headquarters in Ibadan.
Taofeek Akeugbagold, Chairman of the Agricultural Credit Corporation in Oyo State, revealed that the distributed commodities included rams, rice, vegetable oil, and other food items. This initiative is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts to support workers’ welfare during festive seasons.
“Over 5,000 public workers have benefited from the scheme so far,” Akeugbagold stated. The commodities were offered at subsidised rates below current market prices, with repayment structured over three months through salary deductions.
The chairman explained the intervention was necessary due to the recent rise in prices of essential goods, especially during festivals. “Governor Makinde directed the corporation to provide this form of economic relief to workers to ensure they celebrate the festival with ease and joy, despite current economic challenges,” he said.
Looking forward, the corporation plans to expand the scheme to cover more workers, aligning with the government’s broader agenda for inclusive economic support and social stability.
One beneficiary, Kunle Adeyemo, expressed his gratitude, noting, “This initiative will enable my family to partake in the Ileya celebration in a happy and dignified manner.”
