Senator Ndume Warns Tinubu Against Complacency

Senator Ali Ndume of Borno South has cautioned President Bola Tinubu that he risks losing the 2027 election if he fails to address Nigeria’s economic and security challenges, drawing parallels to former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 loss despite having the endorsement of 22 PDP governors.
Ndume spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today, highlighting that the APC governors’ unanimous endorsement of Tinubu might create a misleading sense of invincibility. “We are not learning our lesson,” Ndume said, recalling Jonathan’s defeat despite massive financial investment and election delays.
He also criticized internal party rumors about automatic tickets for incumbents, warning this could alienate grassroots supporters essential for electoral success. Ndume urged swift, people-centered policies to improve Nigerians’ welfare, stating, “If in the next two years, the president can make Nigerians happy—really happy—then nobody will contest against him”.
