Tragedy struck in Imo State on Tuesday as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated at the busy Eke Ubaheze market in Awo-Idemili, Orsu Local Government Area, killing six people and leaving several others injured.

According to OnyxNews sources, the explosion occurred when a middle-aged woman, identified as Ngozi Umeh, unknowingly stepped on the explosive device planted in the marketplace. The blast sent shockwaves through Ubaheze and nearby communities, igniting widespread fear and confusion.

Eyewitnesses reported that the explosion claimed six lives on the spot and injured many others. The identity and motives of the perpetrators remain unknown, but initial investigations point to a landmine allegedly planted by suspected members of the proscribed IPOB or ESN.
