Messi Crushed! PSG Run Riot Over Inter Miami in 4-0 Masterclass

Paris Saint-Germain cruised into the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with a commanding 4-0 win over Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on Sunday.
Despite the buzz around Messi’s reunion with his former club, PSG showed no mercy in Atlanta, dominating from start to finish in front of 66,000 fans — many of whom were hoping for Messi magic but witnessed a brutal dismantling instead.
Joao Neves was the star of the show, scoring a brace in the first half. Tomas Aviles’ own goal and a composed finish from Achraf Hakimi wrapped up the scoring before half-time, leaving Inter Miami stunned.
The MLS side, featuring Messi alongside his ex-Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, simply couldn’t match the intensity and quality of the reigning European champions.
Neves opened the scoring in the 6th minute, heading home unmarked from a Vitinha free-kick. Miami held firm until the 39th minute, when Busquets lost possession near his box, allowing Fabian Ruiz and Barcola to combine for Neves’ second.
Moments later, Doue’s cross was turned into the net by Aviles for an own goal. PSG weren’t done — Hakimi capitalised on his own rebound to make it four before the break.
Messi had brief flashes of brilliance, including a well-placed through-ball to Tadeo Allende, but they came to nothing. Frustrated and powerless against PSG’s onslaught, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner even lashed out at Vitinha during the game’s closing moments.
Inter Miami’s dream run ends here, while PSG march on to the quarter-finals with eyes firmly set on the title.
