Naira Falls Against Dollar At NFEM, Rises In Parallel Market
Yesterday, the naira appreciated slightly in the parallel market, trading at N1,530 per dollar, compared to N1,535 per dollar recorded last Thursday.
However, at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the currency weakened further, slipping to N1,513 per dollar, a new low.
According to the data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), it showed the official exchange rate declined to N1,513 per dollar from N1,511.5 per dollar a week earlier, reflecting a N1.5 depreciation.
As a result, the gap between the parallel market rate and the NFEM rate narrowed to N17 per dollar, down from N23.5 per dollar last Thursday.
