COVID-19: Lagos begins house to house search

The Lagos State Government has began house-to-house search for possible coronavirus cases within the State.
The Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, made this known on Thursday, during a joint ministerial press briefing on COVID-19 intervention in Lagos State.
Prof. Abayomi said that the COVID-19 case identification campaign would run for two weeks in the first instance across the state.
He also said that the health workers carrying out the exercise would be known with the COVID-19 outbreak response tags and letter from the Local Government.

He said, “In the coming days, some of our health workers will be moving around in pairs to administer an electronic questionnaire at homes and healthcare facilities to make enquiries about symptoms of cough, cold and fever.
“This is in a bid to intensify our search for possible cases of COVID-19 in different communities across the state. I implore you to give them your maximum support by providing accurate information that would help in containing this pandemic quickly.
In a related development, on Thursday night, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced new COVID-19 cases in the country.
The centre explained that fourteen (14) fresh cases of the pandemic have been detected in Nigeria. Taking the cases of the virus to 288. 51 discharged and seven death case.
The centre announced these developments via it official Twitter handle.
“Fourteen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 13 in Lagos and 1 in Delta State As at 09:30 pm 9th April there are 288 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Fifty-one have been discharged with seven deaths,” NCDC tweeted
