30-year-old former Super Eagles player, Odion Ighalo Thursday night, scored his first goal for Manchester United in the 5-0 defeat of Club Brugge in the Europa League round of 32 at Old Trafford.

The former Watford striker is now the first Nigerian to score in United with that goal.

The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s inspired side had a very good first half of cracking football, which saw the team headed into the dug out with a 3-0 lead.

Bruno Fernandes converted yet another penalty in the 27th minute of play for the Red Devils after Simon Deli’s handball saw him sent off.

Ighalo then scored his first goal for the club, turning home Juan Mata’s driven cross after a well worked move in the 34th minute of play.

Scott McTominay, who started his first game since returning from injury, added a third into the net.

Manchester United were three goals ahead at half-time at Old Trafford for the first time since December 2018, under José Mourinho (3-0 v Fulham in the Premier League).

The second half was not quite as action-packed as the first, as the pace of the game became slow immediately Fernandes was replaced.

Although, Man United determination yielded in the final third as Fred found the back of the net from Jesse Lingard’s assist in the 82nd minute.
