JUST IN: Abducted Kankara Students Regain Freedom

The students abducted by suspected gunmen at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, have been freed.

According to a report by Arise News, one of Nigeria’s well television stations, said a government official confirmed the development.

The report claimed that the over 300 students were already in custody of Nigerian security forces.

It went on to report that an official of the Katsina State Government said all the boys kidnapped by the gunmen were rescued.

This development is happening hours after Boko Haram posted a video where it claimed that all the abducted schoolboys were in their custody.

The schoolboys are said to be on their way to the Katsina capital where Governor Aminu Bello Masari would receive them.

The government official was reported to have also said Governor Masari is expected to grant a world press conference to announce the release of the students.

Governor Masari had on Wednesday night said government was working hard to ensure the release of the students through every means possible.

The students were kidnapped from their boarding school last Friday night when hundreds of bandits hit the school.

All the students are said to be in good health condition and are to be reunited with their parents later today.
