BREAKING: Court Issues Bricklayer Six Strokes Of Cane In Abuja
A bricklayer, Dauda Francis, have been reported to have received six strokes of cane for stealing two phones, following an order from a Chief Magistrate court sitting in Abuja.
According to the court, the phones were a Samsung Galaxy and Tecno Phantom X, worth N210,000, were stolen from the purse of Ms Sarah Williams.
Onyxnewsng gathered that the court’s Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, after Francis had pleaded guilty to one count of theft and received six trikes of cane, he was also sentenced to five months imprisonment.
Earlier before the court’s verdict, the convict who was not given options on whether to pay a fine or not, had begged the court to temper justice with mercy, that he was aware of his wrongdoings and had learnt his lesson.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Chidi Leo, the convict committed the offence at 8:30 a.m. on May 28, 2023 at Kawo Kaduna.
He added that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
