BREAKING: Tinubu Declares State Of Emergency
President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency on food security in Nigeria. The directive was made known on Thursday by Presidential spokesman, Dele Alake.
Alake said that the President was aware of the rising cost of food and its effect on citizens.
The presidential aide stated that the declaration of a state of emergency was in line with the Tinubu administration’s position on ensuring that the most vulnerable are supported. Food and water availability and affordability are now included in the list of responsibilities of the National Security Council.
Following the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government, many Nigerians have been facing serious hardship. A good number of them are unable to feed and access drinking water due to the rising cost of these basic necessities of life.
Tinubu had promised to cushion the effect by introducing various measures. Earlier, he had promised to disburse money to the vulnerable people in Nigeria numbering at least 12 million households. It is expected that these and more measures will help to reduce the effects of subsidy removal on Nigerians.
