UEFA Fines FC Barcelona For Violating Financial Rules

The Union of European Football Associations, UEFA upheld a 500,000 euro fine on Spanish giants Barcelona on Friday for violation of financial control rules.
UEFA press release: “FC Barcelona has been fined 500,000 € for having wrongly declared, during the 2022 financial year, profits on the sale of intangible assets (other than player transfers) which do not constitute relevant income under the regulations.”
Recall that Barcelona were initially fined by UEFA in July but appealed against it.
Barcelona has faced serious financial difficulties in recent years, having sold significant amounts of their future television rights income and other assets in 2022 to maintain their ability to buy and register players.
