APC Congratulates Gov Sanwo Olu Over Appeals Victory
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its congratulations to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, following the Court of Appeal’s recent ruling that upheld their victory in the March 18 governorship election.
Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of the Lagos State APC, also commended the judiciary for their impartiality in delivering this verdict.
The Court of Appeal in Lagos, after reviewing the concerns raised by the PDP candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, and the Labour Party candidate, Mr Gbadebo Rhode-Viviour, dismissed their arguments against the decision of the election tribunal.
The tribunal had previously dismissed Adediran and Rhode-Vivour’s petition on September 25, affirming Sanwo-Olu’s win. Ojelabi emphasized that the ruling from the appellate court serves as validation of the trust and confidence the people of Lagos have placed in the Sanwo-Olu administration.
He said that, “I believe that the pronouncement of the court is a testament to the confidence that Lagos residents have in our party.
“This outcome laid credence to the ruling of the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal, which was also in our favour.
“The APC as a party appreciates the due diligence done by the Nigeria judiciary to arrive at this conclusion.”
He further stated that the decision reflects the growth and reliability of the judicial system in Nigeria, thereby instilling faith among its citizens.
“The judicial process was thorough and deep, as all the issues were delved into without leaving any stone unturned.
“We, therefore, commend them for the this due diligence,“ he stressed.
