Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State recently presented a proposed budget of N311.4 billion for the year 2024 to the House of Assembly.
This budget, referred to as the ‘Budget of Moving Forward,’ aims to facilitate sustainable growth across various sectors in the state.
In his presentation, Governor Kefas discussed the performance of the previous year’s budget, highlighting that it achieved only 26.2% of the expected 75% performance.
Despite this, he acknowledged the notable achievements in agriculture, works and infrastructure, healthcare, education, and water resources.
The proposed 2024 budget focuses on strategic allocations in key sectors. It prioritizes education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure, security, and environmental conservation.
The breakdown of the budget reveals that education will receive 13.9%, health 10.6%, infrastructure 8.0%, agriculture 6.1%, energy 6.5%, environment 5.2%, security 2.9%, and governance 21.0% of the total budget allocation.
Governor Kefas urged the members of the House of Assembly to thoroughly consider and deliberate on the budget to ensure its approval.
The aim is to continue the progress made in the previous year and foster sustainable development and growth in Taraba State.
