AFCON 2023: Nigeria Beats Angola 1-0, Qualify For Semi-final
In the ongoing 2023 CAF Africa Cup in Cote d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Angola in order to advance to the semi-finals.
Ademola Lookman scored the only goal of the match in the 41st minute, securing Nigeria’s victory and their place in the AFCON semi-finals.
The match, which took place at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, was fiercely contested, highlighting the resilience and skill of the Nigerian team.
The encounter saw a total of four yellow cards, with Angola receiving three and Nigeria receiving one.
In the 75th minute, a header by Victor Osihmen from Napoli was disallowed by the Senegalese referee, Issa Sy, as it was deemed to be offside after a review by the Video Assistant Referee.
Osihmen, who had scored one goal in the tournament so far, later went on to score his second goal of the game, doubling Nigeria’s lead.
Despite missed chances from both sides, the Nigerian team managed to hold onto their lead and secure the victory.
