BREAKING: Access Holdings PLC Announces New Acting CEO
Ms. Bolaji Agbede has been appointed as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc following the unfortunate passing of Dr. Herbert Wigwe in a helicopter crash.
The appointment, as announced by the company’s Board of Directors and dated February 12, 2024, is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Part of the statement reads, “Further to its announcement dated February 11, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the Company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company following the unfortunate demise of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024.
“The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
Agbede brings with her nearly three decades of professional experience in banking and business consultancy services, having joined Access Bank in 2003.
Throughout her tenure at the bank, she has held various roles including Head of Group Human Resources and more recently, the founding Executive Director of Business Support.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos, as well as a Master of Business Administration Degree from Cranfield University, UK.
Additionally, she is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
With her extensive experience and qualifications, Ms. Bolaji Agbede is well-positioned to lead Access Holdings Plc during this transition period.
