Brazilian Legend Alves Regains Freedom, After Jailed Over Rape Case
Former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves, who was convicted of rape in Spain in February, has posted bail of one million euros and has been granted release from jail pending his appeal, as confirmed by the court on Monday.
A statement by the court reads: “We hereby inform you that the deposit of Daniel Alves’ bail has been registered in the accounts of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court.”
The 40-year-old, who is a father of two, is set to be released around 5pm local time after spending 14 months in custody.
Recall that a Spanish court had ruled on February 22 that the former Barcelona star was guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona.
