BREAKING: Court Orders Police to Evacuate Deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero From Kano
In a significant legal development, the Kano State High Court, under the presidency of Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, has issued a crucial directive ordering the immediate evacuation of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero from the Nasarawa Palace.
This decision, made on Monday, May 27, 2024, involves an interim injunction that prohibits Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and four other dethroned emirs (of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye) from presenting themselves as emirs until further notice.
The injunction will remain valid until the court hears and decides on the motion filed by the applicants.
Justice Aliyu granted this order based on an ex parte application presented by Barrister Ibrahim Isa Wangida, the counsel for the applicants, on May 27, 2024.
The court’s directives include an interim injunction preventing the mentioned individuals from parading themselves as emirs and instructs the Commissioner of Police in Kano State to take control of the Emir of Kano’s palace on State Road, Kano, and remove Emir Aminu Bayero from the premises pending the resolution of the motion on notice.
Furthermore, the court aims to maintain peace in Kano by preventing any actions that may disrupt the peace in the region.
This decision by Justice Aliyu comes amidst legal and political tensions surrounding traditional leadership in Kano.
The hearing for the motion on notice has been scheduled for June 11, 2024.
