Portable’s Bail Set at ₦1 Million with Unique Surety Requirement

Published

on

An Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has conditionally released controversial singer Portable, Okikiola Badmus, on bail amounting to a significant ₦1 million. This follows his arraignment on charges ranging from criminal defamation to cyberstalking, drawing significant attention to the case and the substantial bail amount.

A notable aspect of the bail conditions, alongside the ₦1 million sum, is the specific requirement for one of the sureties to be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). This unusual stipulation highlights the court’s interest in involving the music industry in ensuring Portable’s accountability following the granting of the ₦1 million bail.

Additionally, the second surety must own a property in a Government Reserved Area, backed by a valid Certificate of Occupancy. As Portable, who hails from Ogun State, works to meet these conditions tied to the ₦1 million bail, the legal proceedings have been adjourned, with a call for decorum from the presiding judge.
