This year’s ceremony, themed “Back to Base” and “Apologetically African,” celebrated outstanding achievements in African music within the eligibility window of April 1, 2023, to July 31, 2024.

Marking its 17th edition, The Headies introduced two new award categories: “Soundtrack of the Year” and “Best Performer (Live),” broadening the platform for recognising artists’ contributions to the music industry.

Reports gathered notes that the event was plagued by poor time management and technical challenges, ultimately leading organisers to end the ceremony abruptly, leaving several major categories without announced winners.
