JAMB Officially Releases 2025 UTME Results; Over 1.5 Million Candidates Score Below 200

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results following a press briefing at its National Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
Candidates can now check their results via SMS using the phone number linked to their JAMB profile by sending “UTME RESULT” to 55019 or 66019, with a N50 charge per message. JAMB cautioned that candidates who lost access to their registered SIM cards must wait for the upcoming online portal launch.
In a revealing performance analysis released earlier, out of 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam, only 420,415 scored above 200, while a staggering over 1.5 million candidates scored below this benchmark. Scores above 300 were rare, with just 7,658 candidates scoring between 300 and 319 points, and only 756 surpassing 320 points.
The report also highlighted that 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to sit for the exam to showcase exceptional academic ability, but only 467 (1.16%) met JAMB’s threshold for exceptional performance. Their results in subsequent assessments are still pending.
Comrade Awe Isreal O, Public Relations Officer of the Independent Federation of Campus Networks, congratulated all candidates, stating, “Congratulations to all UTME 2025 candidates. Your resilience and commitment to academic excellence are commendable.”
JAMB urges candidates to remain patient and adhere strictly to official instructions regarding result checking.
