Another tragedy befalls Nigeria after death of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in a plane crash.
Onyxnews reports about 45 people may have suffered severe burns and other injuries as a petrol truck making a delivery at the Al-Ihasan petrol station located along Yahaya Gusau Road, Sharada Kano exploded into massive flames.

The incident, which occurred in the evening of Saturday, was said to have been caused by a tanker breaking basic safety guidelines when delivering gasoline to the station.
Onyxnews learnt that Commissioner for Works Idris Garba Unguwanrimi, who spoke to reporters about the incident, expressed regret for the tragic and preventable tragedy, which he blamed on a breach of safety regulations.

“A violation of the safety protocols may have resulted in the regrettable and avoidable incident.

“It is part of the guidelines that deliveries of such extremely flammable items should not be made in the middle of the day owing to severe heat in the atmosphere over 40 degrees Celsius,” he stressed.
The fire erupted when a petrol tanker arrived at the station to deliver the combustible liquid.
It speedily caught fire, drawing a large crowd to the scene to witness the fire department put out the flames.
The petrol tanker suddenly burst, sending a massive flame into the sky and injuring many persons nearby, including firefighters attempting to put out the fire.
The injured individuals were immidiately taken to the Murtala Muhammad Hospital in the capital

Although eyewitnesses claimed that over 70 persons were left with various degrees of burns as a result of the explosion, official sources put the number at 45, and as at the time of filing this report there was no deaths reported.
