Kebbi State Hisbah Police Detained 16-year-old Habibu For Allege Rape

A 16-year-old named Habibu Umar has been detained by the religious police, known as Hisbah, in Kebbi State.
The Hisbah arrested Umar in the Badariya district of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, following allegations of him raping two minors of 5 and 6 years old respectively.
The confirmation of his arrest came through a statement posted on Hisbah’s Facebook page in the Hausa language on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Umar has admitted to the crime, which has led to his immediate transfer to the regular police force for a thorough investigation.
The gravity of the case was highlighted by the Hisbah Commissioner, who emphasized the organization’s determination to pursue legal actions against the accused.
The statement highlighted stated that:
“The Hisbah government of Kebbi state has succeeded in arresting Habibu Umar, 16 years old, for allegedly raping two girls aged 5 and 6 in Badariya district of Kebbi.”
Medical examinations conducted at the Hisbah Dana Hospital have reportedly confirmed the assault.
Following the established legal procedures, the Hisbah has promptly handed over the matter to the regular police force for further investigation.
The intention is to present the findings before the court, ensuring that justice is served.
