ICPC Declare D’banj Innocent Of Rape And N-Power Fraud
Nigerian singer Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has been declared innocent of both rape and N-power fraud allegations after thorough investigations conducted by the Nigeria Police Force and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
According to documents obtained by a credible source, separate clearance reports from the police and the ICPC confirm the artist’s exoneration from these charges.
The reports, marked as exhibits A and B in an affidavit filed by Toheeb Lawal from the Abuja-based law firm, Law Corridor, state that both the police and the ICPC have dismissed the allegations against D’banj.
In relation to the rape accusation leveled against the singer in 2020, the Inspector General of Police initiated an investigation.
However, in a report dated November 14, 2023, it was stated that after a thorough investigation (case number CR:3000/X/FHQ/ABJ/SEB/T.1/VOL 18/284), there was no evidence to support the claim.
Similarly, in 2022, the ICPC accused D’banj of fraudulent activities related to the N-Power Programme of the Federal Government.
Nevertheless, after conducting their own investigation, the ICPC concluded that D’banj was not guilty of any fraud allegations.
In a clarification dated November 29, 2023 (document number ICPC/OPS/SDD/SPT.LG/31/23), the commission officially cleared D’banj of any wrongdoing in this matter.
“The commission investigated issues of fraud in the administration of the N-POWER Scheme, where Mr Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo’s name came up. However, there was no prima facie case of fraud against him.
“Kindly be advised that Mr Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo is not under investigation with the Commission for any fraud-related offence,” the ICPC clearance partly read.
Furthermore, D’banj’s lawyer, in an affidavit submitted to the Chief District Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, affirmed that the singer was never a government official and never had access to government funds.
It was also stated that D’banj’s involvement in the N-power campaign was voluntary and unpaid.
In summary, through the investigations conducted by the Nigeria Police Force and the ICPC, D’banj has been cleared of all accusations of rape and N-power fraud.
