Kogi Gov, Bello Signs 2024 Budget Into Law
On Wednesday, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State signed the 2024 budget into law, which amounts to a total of N258,278,501,339.00.
The Governor expressed confidence in the incoming administration, stating that they would build upon the foundation of development that his administration has laid.
During the signing ceremony, held at the Executive Chambers in the Government House in Lokoja, Governor Bello emphasized that his administration has established a solid foundation for progress and will continue to create an enabling environment for the incoming government.
This supportive environment will allow the new administration to secure funds and effectively implement the budget for the benefit of the people of Kogi State.
Governor Bello referred to the budget as the “Budget of Consolidation and Continuity for Inclusive Growth,” highlighting its aim to promote further development and elevate Kogi to a higher level of growth.
The Governor lauded the lawmakers for their prompt and efficient passage of the budget, expressing confidence that the incoming administration would face minimal challenges in its implementation.
He specifically commended the Speaker, Ahmad Usman Ododo, for his unwavering loyalty and dedication to the state’s growth and development.
Governor Bello expressed assurance that under Ododo’s leadership, the state would reach desired heights.
During the budget presentation to the Governor for his assent, Speaker Rt. Hon. Umar Yusuf highlighted the Assembly’s careful consideration of the budget, ensuring that it truly reflected the interests of the citizens.
He also mentioned the passage of other bills, such as the amendments to the Kogi State Local Government Law, the Kogi State Oil Producing Area Development Commission bill (KOSOPADEC), and the amendment to the College of Nursing and Midwifery Obagende.
