BREAKING: Atiku’s Former Aide Shima Ayati Is Dead
Honorable Shima Ayati, a former Special Assistant to the President in the Office of Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has sadly passed away in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, following a brief illness.
Ayati was a committed grassroots politician and an accomplished author who played a pivotal role alongside Atiku Abubakar during the Obasanjo administration, serving two terms before his unexpected removal due to a dispute between President Olusegun Obasanjo and the then-Vice President.
In addition to his work with Atiku, Ayati made notable contributions to humanitarian initiatives.
He served as the Chairman of the Zakibiam Relief Committee under former Benue State Governor George Akume, where he was instrumental in distributing vital supplies to thousands of displaced Tiv individuals in 2003.
A family member, Ahangba Ayati, confirmed his passing on Saturday, December 21.
“Hon. Ayati was an easygoing man who retired from politics to focus on his businesses and lived a quiet life. His death is a great loss,” he said.
The family has stated that details regarding burial arrangements will be provided shortly.
The late Hon. Shima Ayati hailed from the Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State and will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to public service and his community.
