North-West Governors’ Forum Holds Key Meeting in Kaduna, Focuses on Security and Development
Katsina Governor Dikko Radda chaired a significant meeting of the North-West Governors’ Forum on Friday in Kaduna, with governors from Zamfara, Jigawa, and Kaduna states in attendance, alongside the Forum’s Director-General, Hajiya Maryam Musa Yahaya.
The forum aims to enhance regional collaboration in economic development, agriculture, and security.
Governor Radda highlighted the forum’s non-partisan stance and developmental goals in his opening remarks. “Since our inauguration, we have committed to working together on economic development, agriculture, and security,” he said. He praised the forum’s achievements through partnerships and joint projects.
He called for unity among member states, affirming, “This is not a partisan forum. It’s a forum of progress-one that prioritizes the economic wellbeing and safety of our people.” Following his welcome to participants and the press, Governor Radda initiated a closed-door session to address key regional concerns.
Preparatory meetings by governors’ secretaries and a night session among North-West states preceded this forum. The agenda includes tackling the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the northeast and addressing security challenges in the North-West.
The Coalition of Northern Groups is set to submit a security document outlining roles for stakeholders, reinforcing the forum’s focus on collective security efforts. This meeting is the first of 2025 for the forum, emphasizing a united approach to regional challenges.
