NiMet Predicts A 3-day Sunshine, Cloudiness Beginning Sunday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of sunny, cloudy, and thunderstorm conditions across the country from Sunday through Tuesday.
In its weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet predicted mostly sunny skies on Sunday, with pockets of cloud and afternoon/evening thunderstorms expected in parts of Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa States.
For the North-Central region, the agency projected sunny conditions with isolated thunderstorms likely in areas including Kwara, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Benue, and Kogi States during the afternoon or evening.
In the southern region, morning thunderstorms are anticipated in states such as Cross River, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom, followed by scattered thunderstorms later in the day.
“On Monday, sunny skies with patches of cloud are expected in the northern region, with chances of morning thunderstorms in Taraba and Adamawa States.
“Isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for the afternoon or evening in parts of Kaduna, Taraba, and Adamawa States.
“In the North-central region, sunny skies with some cloud are expected, with isolated thunderstorms possible over the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States.
“Southern regions will see morning thunderstorms in Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, followed by isolated thunderstorms later in the day.”
On Tuesday, NiMet expects mostly sunny skies with a few clouds over the northern region, with morning thunderstorms possible in Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, and Adamawa States.
Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are likely in parts of Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba States.
For the North-Central, sunny skies with patches of cloud are expected, alongside isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, and Niger States.
“The southern region will experience morning thunderstorms in Cross River, Lagos, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States, with thunderstorms expected later in the day.”
NiMet concluded by advising the public to remain cautious, noting that strong winds may precede thunderstorms and urging people to secure loose items to prevent damage.
