BREAKING: Osun State confirms first case of coronavirus

Osun State, has confirmed its first coronavirus case.
Onyxnewsng reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) case as positive in a statement released on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Wednesday morning, 25 March.
This online news platform understands that the first coronavirus in Osun, Southwest of Nigeria increases the number of cases of the pandemic in the country to forty-six (46) from its initial forty-four (44).
Giving an update on the spread of the disease, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “Two new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in Lagos and 1 in Osun.
“Both cases are returning travellers to Nigeria in the last 7 days.
“As at 07:00 am 25th March, there are 46 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death,” NCDC tweeted.

At the other hand, this is coming 48 hours after Edo State, southern Nigeria confirmed its first COVID-19 case.
Nigeria which had only one case of coronavirus (COVID-19) when the pandemic virus hit the country on February 23-28 now has 46 confirmed cases as of Wednesday, March 25. The disease has affected 192 countries with more than 329,000 cases globally. In Africa, 42 out of the 54 countries that make up the continent are presently affected.
In another development, on Tuesday, March 24, following the deadly disease outbreak in the country, the Nigerian Navy had suspended their 2020 recruitment exercise.
The Director of Information, Commodore Suleiman Dahun made it known in a statement to newsmen that the Navy recruitment for 2020 “has been put on hold till further notice”
He stated: “The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the general public and prospective applicants that its 2020 recruitment exercise has been put on hold till further notice in response to national concerns.”
”Consequently, the online registration for the 2020 recruitment has been suspended and the recruitment portal deactivated with immediate effect,” Commodore Dahun said in the statement.
