BREAKING: Immediate past NNPC GMD, Maikanti Baru is dead

The immediate past Group Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru is dead.

Onyxnews Nigeria reports that Maikanti Baru died on Friday night at age 60.

This reliable online news platform understands that the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari broke the sad news on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Saturday morning.

Kyari who described Maikanti Baru as a person of “exemplary character and disposition” tweeted: “My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him.”

Also, a press statement was released by the Group on Twitter disclosing that the former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Baru, is Dead.

The statment read: “The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (#NNPC) regrets to announce the demise of its former Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, Friday night.”
