Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa Returns to Kano Pillars
Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has signed with Kano Pillars for the remainder of 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, The Cable reports.
OnyxNews Nigeria understands that the deal was announced in a statement on the club’s website on Tuesday night, confirming Musa’s return to the yellow and green colours of the Sai Masu Gida team after 11 years.
According to the statement, Musa has agreed to a flexible contract that permits him to leave the club once a favourable offer drops from European clubs.
The winger has been without a club since parting ways with Al Nassr in October 2020.
The Eagles captain is well revered in Kano for his performances with Pillars before heading to Europe. Most popular of those exploits was in the 2009/10 season when he broke the Nigerian league goalscoring record with 18 goals. The feat was, however, toppled by Jude Aneke the following season.
The 28-year-old joined VVV Venlo in 2010 before heading to Russia in the books of CSKA Moscow where he announced himself to the world, winning the Russian league three times with the club.
The winger is set to be unveiled by Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, before NPFL resumes from its mid-season break.
Kano Pillars are currently second on the league table behind leaders Kwara United on goal difference and the Ibrahim Musa-Jugunu tutored side will hope the vastly experienced forward can stir them to win the league this season.
