Strike: ASUU Gives New Update On Renegotiation Of 2009 Agreement
The union announced this in a memo titled “Strike bulletin number 6,” which was signed by its National President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, and distributed to all union branches. On Sunday, our correspondent received a copy of the memo.
In the memo, Osodeke stated that the union had five meetings with representatives of the Federal Government, two of which were with Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education. “Our iron-clad resolve has forced the government to sit down and negotiate with us,” the memo stated. “We’ve met with the Federal Government team five times and the Minister of Education twice.”
The renegotiation of the ASUU-FGN agreement from 2009 is going well and has reached a critical stage. We must, however, remain focused until the end of this battle. “For the third time, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution has been put to the test. The National Information Technology Development Agency has tested UTAS and the University Peculiar Personnel and Payroll System so far, and will begin testing the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System by the end of next week. The antics of some government officials in this regard haven’t deterred us. “It is clear that hunger, misinformation, factual distortions, intimidation, and other forms of coercion have failed to break our resolve in the past; they should not do so now.”

“Fake news and divisive information from social media and a section of the press should be ignored. If you have any questions, contact your chairperson for clarification.
“We are on the verge of victory.” Let us continue to believe in the union. “A united people can never be defeated.” So far, schools have been closed for a total of 13 months under president Muhammadu Buhari.
