Emblem For King Charles III Coronation Revealed (Photo)

Sir Jony Ive, the former Apple design chief, is behind a coronation emblem inspired by the King’s love of nature and the” happy optimism” of spring.

Unveiled by Buckingham Palace on Friday, the emblem features the four flowers of the UK nations – the rose of England, thistle of Scotland, daffodil of Wales and shamrock of Northern Ireland – in the shape of St Edward’s Crown.

The crown, which was made for the coronation of Charles II, is one of the most iconic symbols of the British monarchy. It’ll be used to cap His Majesty at the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

The Telegraph has learnt that only 20 backbench MPs and 20 peers will be invited to attend the form, sparking a “massive row” among politicians who believe they’ve a right to attend.

Furious MPs and peers have been lobbying the Cabinet Office to argue their case, not least as 800 MPs and 910 peers were invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953.

The sanctioned coronation hallmark is designed in the red, white and blue of the Union flag and features the words King Charles III Coronation May 6 2023.

Alternate interpretation features the words in Welsh.

The design will feature throughout the celebrations. It’ll also be used on all sanctioned wares.

The King is understood to have been consulted at all stages of the design process.

Sir Jony shouldered the commission with LoveFrom, his creative collaborative, giving his time for free.

He said “ It’s such an honour to be suitable to contribute to this remarkable public occasion, and our team is so veritably proud of this work. The design was inspired by King Charles’s love of the earth, nature, and his deep concern for the natural world.

“The emblem speaks to the happy optimism of spring and celebrates the morning of this new Carolean period for the United Kingdom. The gentle modesty of these natural forms combine to define a hallmark that acknowledges both the joyous and profound significance of this occasion.

Sir Jony worked with the King on his 10- time environmental recovery plan for the private sector called the Terra Carta – or Earth Treaty. He designed the 18- runner document published in Green Essay, which was launched in Jan 2021.

Later, the time he designed the Terra Carta Seal, a green slice featuring natural references including oak leaves, fern, magnolia, honey notions, quaffs, and the monarch butterfly

The Seal was awarded to 45 companies that committed to significant action over the coming decade, in a shot to achieve net zero carbon emigrations by 2050.

The last royal hallmark was designed in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee emblem by Edward Roberts, a 19- time-old graphic design pupil from Nottinghamshire.

The design was named as the winning entry of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Emblem Competition, run in confluence with the V&A Museum.
