Water Supply to Abuja’s Satellite Towns a Priority for Tinubu Administration, Says Wike

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu places great importance on providing water to Abuja’s satellite towns.
After inspecting projects in the capital, Wike shared details of his recent trip to China, where he finalized a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction Group (CGCOC) to support the water supply initiative.
Wike explained that the FCT Administration signed the MoU with CGCOC for water provision in satellite towns, and the China visit was a follow-up on this project. The Tinubu-led government had earlier promised to deliver the Abuja City Water Supply, with part of the project targeted for completion along Airport Road in the administration’s second year.
Beyond the city supply, Tinubu has directed that satellite towns receive clean water. Wike stated, “This is a critical project for Mr President. Funding has been included in the National Budget, which has been passed, and also in the Statutory Budget laid before the National Assembly.”
The water supply project will commence with Bwari, Karu, and parts of Kubwa, with procurement underway. The CGCOC company, which is handling the Greater Abuja Water Supply, will execute this satellite towns project.
Wike also praised Tinubu’s support for the FCT administration’s efforts across infrastructure, health, and education. He revealed that 85 percent of the FCT Statutory Budget will focus on completing ongoing projects, with education receiving about N140 billion for capital projects.
He emphasized the government’s aim to revive abandoned projects and complete them for public use. “All those abandoned projects will be brought back to life and completed,” Wike said.
