BREAKING: UAE Restrictions On Visa Services For Nigerians Remain In Place – Presidency
According to reports, The visa services for Nigerian citizens looking to travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have not yet resumed.
Following the Ban, Several reports claimed that UAE on March 4 lifted the visa restriction on Nigerian travellers.
However, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in person of Bayo Onanuga, refuted the viral document in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, March 5.
According to Onanuga, “UAE has not resumed visa issuance to Nigerians. The document in circulation is not authorized either by the Nigerian government or the UAE.”
In October 2022, the UAE introduced a prohibition on citizens from around 20 African nations from entering their borders.
This list of affected countries includes Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic.
The Emirati authorities have issued a communication to their trade partners and travel agents directing them to decline all visa applications from these nations.
Following the implementation of the ban, a diplomatic dispute has ensued between the UAE and Nigeria regarding flight allocations and travel restrictions.
